Starting a Quiz League
Beginning
Just as you are encouraged to join a quiz league if there is one in your area, you are similarly encouraged to start one if there is not.
Most quiz leagues are based around pubs and were begun by breweries or people with a drive to set them up.
Teams
The first big hurdle when establishing a quiz league is getting enough teams to make it viable. The numbers of people taking part in quiz leagues seems to have declined in recent years with the pub quiz appearing ever popular. The prominence and quality of television and radio quizzes is also ever-changing.
Many people enjoy a quiz, but persuading many of them to become part of a league is often a different matter. The teams will ideally comprise people who are enthusiastic about taking part in the league and are able to encourage others to do so. A team will normally need a regular core group and other interested individuals who can take part when people are away and read or score as necessary.

The Quiz League of London was started with an advert in a local newspaper, other leagues have been started by particular individuals going round to pubs and getting people involved whether they like it or not!
